Meeting Before Summer...

We would like to have one final meeting before summer. Please meet in the "Hospitality" classroom on Wednesday April 30th at 6:30 pm (bring in your food if you like). It should be a very brief meeting just to exchange findings and make assignments for over the summer. Post if you CANNOT make it. Thanks!

Dignity Village, Portland, OR

Now, BREATHE...I'm not suggesting we do this at Macland. But maybe we should start chewing on this idea a bit for this area.

Town Hall on Homelessness

Our small group has talked about the need for doing a "town hall" style forum to educate local residents about the truths of the homeless issues. I think this might be something we might work towards for this fall - it would go a long ways to alleviate questions the community might have. The Sisters of the Road is doing one (click HERE) and they have offered to send someone to help us. Be sure to "poke around" the main Sisters web page, including the book they wrote!

Shelter Project Assignments...

The following items are being investigated and will be reported back here:
  • McEachern Methodist - what type of shelter do they currently run? Could we partner with them?
  • Other neighboring churches - what type of shelters might they currently run? Would they be interested in partnering with us?
  • What are the costs of cots?
  • MUST and the Extension - how will we work together? (Pat, Carol Robinson and Jeff are going to talk to them soon)
